The Nanny Diaries

I just watched one of my favorite movies in the world, Nanny Diaries. I never cry during movies (maybe a walk to remember....) but this one gets me. I can relate to it so easily. I could write a book of things I have been through. I have been watching kids since I was eleven. If you haven't seen this movie you need to watch it. I have actually babysat for moms who are similar to the rude mother in the movie. (none of you p.s.) You do get attached to the kids...I was a nanny for this certain family one summer, and as much as I complained about how mean the one little 4 year old boy was, I miss him. He was never paid attention to because he had four other siblings. The first day I went over to meet him he made up a song called "kill the babysitter." I was not a fan of that tune, but I decided to just give it a shot. It took months for him to warm up to me, and it was frustrating. Even to the point of the dad saying in front of him "what did we do wrong with this one?" They weren't mean parents, but I ended up doing things they should have done for their kids. I came over often while the mother wanted some alone time. This little boy had even attempted to throw a fondue fork at me, hit me, etc. He even locked me out of the house for a long period of time. He was just a stubborn, little kid. He was so mean to me, but I found his weakness one night. He hated falling asleep alone, so I had to lay next to him until he would fall asleep. I could see the fear in his eyes as I would try to inch away and leave his room. He would grab my hand and not let go. There is a scene in this movie just like that. The next couple of weeks were a lot easier and he broke my heart one day when he said "are you going to leave me? " I guess they had gone through their fair share of nannies, and he would get attached to one, and then they would leave. It wasn't easy dealing with the mother because she demanded such ridiculous things from me, but I wanted to stay just for him. However I do pray for whoever is their nanny right now. I'm sure I could give some tips. :)

My dream

So I have always been talking about moving to Florida. I was hanging out one day dreaming about it, and I came up with the perfect idea. Growing up I begged my parents to have a dirt bike or pretty much anything with an engine. I would buy "Tradin Times" over slurpees at 7 eleven. I finally found this old Piaggio '74 mo-ped. These bikes are Italian and are thought to be antiques. I just wanted one to ride. It was $400 dollars and I paid it all with my own money. I felt so cool, but it gave us some trouble due to its age. We ended up selling it at a garage sale. It was a sad day. I have always wanted to get one just for fun around here, but there isn't really a point to having one unless you have property. So this is my idea...Buy one and take it down to Florida with me. I could drive it to the beach, it would be perfect! One of my favorite beaches is Cocoa Beach on the East coast. It's not much of a looker, but it has some good memories. It's about 45 minutes from Orlando, and It also has "Ron Jon's Surf Shop." I love the area..it's so low key, and people just walk around with sand in between their toes. The Cruise ships also dock at cape Canaveral and they are gorgeous to see. This is what I'm picturing....

Oh I can't wait!

God of this City

I don't know about everyone else, but I am getting tired of hearing negative news all of the time from the media. There are some decisions that we do not have control over, but God is in control. We have a choice to either get upset about it, or hand it over to God. Chris Tomlin is one of my favorite artists. This song really spoke to me about this issue...

You're the God of this City
You're the King of these people
You're the Lord of this nation You are
You're the Light in this darkness
You're the Hope to the hopeless
You're the Peace to the restless
You are There is no one like our God
There is no one like our God
For greater things have yet to come
And greater things are still to be done in this City
Greater thing have yet to come
And greater things are still to be done in this City
There is no one like our God
There is no one like our God
For greater things have yet to come
And greater things are still to be done in this City
Greater things have yet to come
And greater things are still to be done here

Hope everyone is having a great week!

Learn to enjoy Michigan

So I have spent most of my winter complaining about Michigan, and how it's so cold, and nothing to do. I realized that satan is probably loving that! Why would he want me to enjoy where I live?? Anyways so I decided to think about some positive things about the state.
1. You can save your electric bill by shutting off your fridge and just using your car...I do it all of the time. I use the trunk as the freezer because no heat gets there from the inside of the car.
2. You don't have to waste time putting your fall clothes away. You never know when it's going to get in the 70's during the winter.
3. You don't have to pay to ice skate...find a random lake and you're all set.
4.I love having excuses to wear silly hats just to keep me warm. I have one with a ball on the top that not a lot of people are fond of.
5. There is an 85% chance there will be snow on Christmas.
6. We can have winter extreme sports here for the majority of the year...
7. Every snowflake is different. I find that fascinating.
8. A lot of snow days....I'm crossing fingers for that one
9. We are blessed to have the great lakes with good drinking water. Go to Florida and tell me how much you enjoy their water....my dad calls it alligator pee.
10. The summers are perfect...a great mix of warm and hot days...I love the smell in the field behind our house in the summer. Going on walks with my mom is my favorite thing to do.

Hope everyone is enjoying their week!!!
